USA MASTERS WEIGHTLIFTING:
The purpose of USA Masters Weightlifting is to promote the sport of Olympic weightlifting in general and Masters Weightlifting in particular (Masters being athletes age 35 and older).
The United States Masters Program is an arm of USAW and will adhere to all USA Weightlifting Rules and all IWF Master's rules, but reserve the right to change any of these rules with a majority vote of our members at our annual business meeting. The USA Masters specifically hosts 2 National events per year (American Masters and National Masters) at locations throughout the United States.
There are also 2 major International events per year and the USA Masters makes sure that all information for these competitions are made available to the members.
National and American Meet Records are also tracked by the Masters. The Masters keep track of Grand Slam Awards (when an athlete wins all 4 events in a year - Nationals, American Masters, Pan Am Masters and World Masters) and Masters Hall of Fame Members (when an athlete has won 10 National Championships).
The USA Masters has no paid staff. The Board are all volunteers elected every 4 years at our Annual Meeting.
The elected officers are President, Vice President and Treasurer. If you desire to run for election in the next term, you must submit your name and bio to the secretary by 35 days prior to the election and you will be placed on the ballot.
All Masters must be registered members of the USA Weightlifting Federation (as a Master athlete). Masters retain all USAW member benefits.
USA Masters is separate from IWF Masters and Pan American Masters. Pan Am and World Masters events are not decided upon by USA Masters.
